Review: AVEXIR Blitz 1.1 Original 2400MHz C10 8GB Memory


You might not have heard of AVEXIR but it is a brand that has been around for quite a while. Established in 2006, the Taiwanese company specialized in the manufacturing of high performance memory kits that are designed for gaming and overclocking enthusiasts as well as case modders. The milestones of AVEXIR have been interesting since then. In 2007, they developed the world’s fastest DDR3-1200 memory kit, followed by DDR3-2000 module. Four years later, they released the award-winning Core Series and world’s first DDR3-1600 8GB memory module. End of last year, they introduced their latest flagship memory modules, namely the Blitz 1.1 Series.

The Blitz 1.1 Series features fantastic LED lighting, removable heat spreaders, and offers massive overclocking potential. The Blitz 1.1 Series comprises a total of eight variants which includes the AVEXIR Original, MPOWER, Gaming Dragon, OC Formula, Gaming Series, OC Series, L337 Red, and L337 Gold. There are a variety of frequencies and capacities to choose from, ranging from 8GB to 32BG, as well as from 1600MHz to 3200MHz.

The memory kit that we are going to review today is the AVEXIR Blitz 1.1 Original 2400MHz C10 2 X 4GB (AVD3U24001004G-2BZ1) which comes with timings of 10-12-12-31 at a voltage of 1.65V. The AVEXIR Blitz 1.1 memory ships in a sturdy black coloured retail packaging featuring silver coloured product name on the top and a tagline of “What We Believe is How We Behave” on one side of the box.


Flipping the box over you will find some descriptions of the AVEXIR Blitz 1.1 memory along with key features for gamers and overclockers. You can also see a label showing the model name of the memory modules (AVD3U24001004G-2BZ1) as well as its rated speed, timings, and voltage. Below the label you can find address and contact numbers of AVEXIR.


The box’s internal part is capable of holding up to four memory modules. The modules are well seated in a protective foam to prevent rattling during transportation.


Emptying the box reveals a pair of memory modules in perfect condition. At first glance the AVEXIR Blitz 1.1 memory looks extremely appealing with its aesthetic design. This Original memory kit sports a black and red colour scheme which would perfectly fit with the theme of ASUS’s ROG and EVGA’s Classified motherboards. The PCB also comes in a black colour which looks very nice. The memory is also equipped with a white LED lighting that pulsates to give a nice bling-bling effect. As you can see here, the modules’ golden fingers are covered with translucent plastic protectors for extra protection. You will also see a white label which is identical to that of the box. As usual it gives you the model number, rated speed, timings, and voltage of the memory.


Removing the protective covers reveals the golden fingers. But now it’s the other side of the memory module where you don’t see the label anymore.


The AVEXIR Blitz 1.1 memory is fabricated with a total of eight layers of PCB for maximum heat conductivity. The 2oz copper layers will help in solving the LN2 cold bug issues.


Here’s interesting part about AVEXIR, they officially allow dismantling of heat spreader without voiding the warranty. Sounds good especially for extreme overclockers because it will allow for custom coolers such as the LN2 heatsink to be attached. To do that, you will need to unsecure the two screws and then detach the top heatsink covering the light bar and finally remove the heat spreaders on both sides. It’s hassle free because the thermal pad that attaches the memory chips and the heat spreader together is not that sticky and easy to detach.


The AVEXIR Blitz 1.1 memory is equipped with high quality components such as high grade resistors and capacitors to ensure stability under extreme overclocking. To show their aggressiveness towards MHz war, AVEXIR decided to use Hynix H5TC4G83MFR chips on their Blitz 1.1 memory modules. Because of its excellent overclocking potential, these Hynix-MFR ICs have been used by various memory manufacturers on their high performance memory kits.


Since it is a single-sided module you will notice that there’s no memory chip on the other side of the PCB. Once again all of the components are well soldered across the entire PCB.




Test Setup & Testing Methodology



All memory kits were tested by simply enabling the Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) in the BIOS after clearing the CMOS. Maximus Tweak selected was Mode 2 to help overclocking and performance. To add the fun, we’ve also overclocked the AXEXIR Blitz 1.1 memory to 2933MHz with timings of 12-14-14-35-1T from 2400MHz 10-12-12-35-2T. We’ll discuss more about this later in a separate chapter. Our Intel Core i7-4790K processor was overclocked to a clock speed of 4.6GHz out of the ASUS Maximus VI Extreme motherboard. As for graphics department, we used our beloved ASUS ROG Matrix R9-290X Platinum graphics card to take care of the game benchmarks.

Synthetic Benchmarks
















Out of the box the AVEXIR Blitz 1.1 memory delivered good results in all of the benchmarks that we’ve performed. Its performance scores were slightly behind the G.Skill TridentX 2666MHz memory kit which dominated majority of the benchmarks. It’ not a surprise due to the fact that the single-sided Hynix-MFR memory kits including the AVEXIR Blitz 1.1 memory has less performance efficiency than the double-sided Samsung kit that’s used on the G.Skill TridentX 2666MHz memory modules.

Overclocking will likely boost the memory to a higher performance level. However, not all benchmark applications will get benefit from overclocking. Our charts showed only some benchmark software obtained performance gains from overclocking, which include the all-time favorite Super Pi and Hyper Pi. One of the main reasons that cause performance hit when overclocked is that now the primary timings have been loosen to 12-14-14 from 10-12-12. Not to mention that the motherboard’s BIOS did play some important roles in the secondary and tertiary timings on auto settings.


Game Benchmarks



The game titles selected demand GPU power more than the CPU power therefore in each test the difference is rather marginal. Out of the box the AVEXIR Blitz 1.1 performed similarly to all of the memory kits in the competition. There’s no performance gain when the memory was overclocked.



As usual our review will not be complete without overclocking. The AVEXIR Blitz 1.1 memory kit is specially engineered with overclocking in mind. AVEXIR used high grade components which have been rigorously tested under numerous conditions to ensure its stability during overclocking. Thanks to AVEXIR’s awesome warranty policy, overclockers especially extreme overclocking enthusiasts are allowed to dismantle the heat spreaders and attached an LN2 heatsink on it without voiding the warranty.

First step of overclocking, we investigated the AVEXIR Blitz 1.1 memory in regards of how high the memory frequency can achieve without touching the memory voltage (1.65V).  Below are the frequency results that we obtained from 1.65V, based on stable Super Pi 32M benchmarks.

2400MHz @ 10-12-12-31-2T (XMP) – voltage 1.65V:



2666MHz @ 11-13-13-31-1T – voltage 1.65V:

2933MHz @ 12-14-14-35-1T – voltage 1.65V:

The end result was a memory frequency of 2933MHz and timings of 12-14-14-35-1T at a voltage of 1.65V. The memory chips used by the AVEXIR Blitz 1.1 2400MHz C10 kits are likely to be same as that of the 2933MHz C12 kit available on the market which is selling at 2-3 times more expensive than this 2400MHz memory kit . Overclocking the AVEXIR Blitz 1.1 memory from 2400MHz to 2666MHz and from 2666MHz to 2933MHz shove off the Pi time by around 2 seconds and 1 second, respectively.


To confirm its stability at 2933MHz 12-14-14-35-1T for 24/7 run, we run AIDA64 Stability Test for around 30 minutes. There was no error or whatsoever during the test therefore this overclock should be fine for daily use.

We then continued overclocking the AVEXIR Blitz 1.1 memory with higher voltage. Below are the results:

Our overclocking journey came to a conclusion with a suicide overclock of 3412MHz at timings of 14-31-31-45-2T and a voltage of 1.9V. It was quick and unstable therefore we were not able to run any benchmark except for just a screenshot taken.

Thoughts & Verdicts

The new AVEXIR Blitz 1.1 Series of memory modules continued the tradition of the award-winning Core Series to become one of the best high performance memory kits on the market. Designed for gaming and overclocking in mind, the memory kit features high quality components such as high grade resistors and capacitors, 2oz copper 8-layer PCB, great selection of ICs, and unique heat spreader design.

Nice aesthetic looks add another strong point to this AVEXIR Blitz 1.1 memory kit. The memory modules feature an attractive white LED lighting which pulsates when the computer is powered up. This LED light bar is definitely a brilliant addition for case modding enthusiasts. It would be nicer if the lighting bar is available in variety of colours and replaceable according to user’s preferences. Besides that, AVEXIR allowed users to dismantle the heat spreader and replace it with custom coolers without voiding the warranty. It is certainly useful for ambitious extreme overclockers who want to cool the memory kit with their favourite LN2 heatsinks.

On the performance aspect, out of the box the AVEXIR Blitz 1.1 memory kit performed well in all the tests that we’ve conducted. On synthetic standpoints you would see the performance differences between the memory kits in the comparison but certainly not in real world. In gaming environment for instance, the difference is negligible regardless of how high the memory frequency.

The memory kit is compatible with the latest Intel chipsets supporting Intel XMP 1.3 profiles (Extreme Memory Profile). AVEXIR decided to employ the Hynix H5TC4G83MFR memory chips to ensure excellent overclocking potential and eventually boost the performance to the next level. During our overclocking process, we achieved an excellent overclock frequency of 2933MHz and timings of 12-14-14-35-1T without needing to adjust the stock voltage of 1.65V. Further overclocking with excessive voltage allowed us to reach a suicide clock of 3412MHz at timings of 14-31-31-45-2T. But we believe that the overclock should be able to reach higher with further tweaking. The 3412MHz overclock is remarkable for such a memory kit that is rated at 2400MHz.

The AVEXIR Blitz 1.1 Original 2400MHz C10 2 X 4GB is available on local market for RM 399. Considering the excellent build quality of these memory modules, their beautiful appearance, and decent overclocking potential, we believe that this price tag is justified. Best of all, it comes with manufacturer’s lifetime warranty.
